XBoxMMA has been up and running for several months now and we’ve seen lots of action. We’ve passed the 500 user mark and have had over 500 tournaments and nearly 1,000 individual challenges issued over the course of several months.
With all the action on the site, the rankings are starting to take shape and its time that we hold our first official XBoxMMA Tournament.
The first tournament will be an eight-man, double-elimination tournament in the light heavyweight division. I’ll be using this tournament to see how things run and we will potentially run the next sponsored tournament with a full 16 contestants.
The tournament will be by invitation only and invitations will be sent to the top 8 players on the rankings list. If any of those players fail to join the tournament in the first 48 hours I’ll move on down the rankings list sending invites until the tournament is full.
So, good luck to those who compete, and keep working hard to build your ranking as well will be running more official tournaments in each weight class in the coming weeks.
Earlier this afternoon, we released a new update to XBoxMMA to show the full fight history for each user on the site.
Previously, when viewing a user’s profile, you could simply see that users current rating and their win/loss record.
Now, we are giving you even more detail into each user’s performance history on XBoxMMA. You’ll now see a break down of each win and loss by finish type (submission, decision, KO, etc…) giving you some extra insight into how your opponents make approach each match.
Also, we now provide you will a full fight history for each user, much like the famed Sherdog.com “Fight Finder”
Enjoy
Today, we officially launched the challenge system on XBoxMMA.com
Challenges will allow you to setup one-on-one fights with another XBoxMMA.com member. Instead of waiting for the process of getting matched up with someone over the course of a tournament, you can now issue challenges directly to anyone on the site.
Want to take a shot at the top ranked players? Send them a challenge and see if you’ve got what it takes to be the best.
Want to play a quick game with a friend and build your ranking? Send them a challenge and get a quick game in.
When you issue a challenge, the person you sent the challenge to will have the option of accepting or rejecting your challenge. Once a challenge has been accepted you can play the match whenever you want.
Dispute resolution of challenge matches will, of course, be a bit different then it is with tournaments. Since the matches are one-on-one matches there are no “admins” of the matchup. If a challenge match result is disputed, it will be up to the site admins to determine an outcome or just cancel the whole challenge.
This means, if you want to “protect your case”, it would be a good idea to take photo (or video) proof of challenge match results so you can backup your result report.
We hope you all enjoy the challenge system and would love your comments and suggestions on how to make it better. Simply send a feedback message or visit the XBoxMMA.com forums.
Since we launched, the most requested feature by users has been the addition of forums.
Well, today I give you forums.
The forums will change a bit over the next few weeks as I update the design and some features, but for now the forums are active.
A nice feature is that the forums are integrated into the main XBoxMMA.com website. When you log into your XBoxMMA.com account, you are automatically logged into the forums as well.
Enjoy!
We understand it has been a bit hard to track your current matches in all the tournaments you are in.
Tonight we launched a new feature in each users profile page that list all your next available matches in every tournament you are in. Hopefully this makes it easier to track down and schedule matches with your opponents.
We have added a new “tournament chat” feature that will hopefully make it easier for you to communicate with the other users in your tournament and make it easier to schedule your matches.
At the bottom of each tournament page you will find the tournament chat section. The chat is only visible to users who are participants in the tournament and is not visible to the general public.
Congrats to GamerTag Steviec2k8 who won the Hawkenberry Invitational on XBoxMMA.
The Hawkenberry Invitational was an eight-man, single-elimination welterweight tournament and Steviec2k8 took Diego Sanchez to the title.
Steviec2k8 defeated Matt Serra, BJ Penn and then Mike Swick in the finals to take home the crown!
Well, it’s May 19, 2009 and UFC 2009 Undisputed is finally here!
We couldn’t be more excited at XBoxMMA.com and the response to the site has been great so far.
New tournaments keep being created and users are starting to report match results and build their XBoxMMA.com rating.
Continue to invite your friends to the site and build tournaments.
Also, we really would love your feedback on what we can do to make the site better and easier to use. What works well on the site and what doesn’t. Let us know please!
Thanks and good luck in all your tournaments!
XBoxMMA.com is now open for business (well, sort of).
We have “soft launched” the site while we still wrap up a few small things.
If you visit the site, feel free to create and account and invite your friends. Start creating tournaments and playing with the site.
We still are adding features, but we’d love your feedback on what is already up there.
At the moment, you can only create tournaments; leagues haven’t been fully implemented yet, but we are working on it.
